Overview
SuiteCRM File Upload & Email Import Helper ("SuiteUpload" or "the Extension") is a browser extension that enables drag-and-drop file uploads and Outlook email imports to your SuiteCRM installation. This extension is designed with privacy as a core principle.
Data Collection
This extension does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers.
The Extension operates entirely between your browser and YOUR configured SuiteCRM server. No data passes through AppyDays servers or any third-party services.
Local Storage
The Extension stores the following information locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API:
- SuiteCRM Domain/IP: Your configured SuiteCRM server address
- Protocol Preference: Whether you use HTTP or HTTPS
- Upload Settings: Your refresh behavior preferences (auto-refresh toggle, delay timing)
- Debug Mode: Developer mode toggle state (if enabled)
This data never leaves your browser and is stored exclusively for the Extension's functionality.
File Uploads & Email Processing
When you upload files or emails using this Extension:
- Files and emails are sent directly to YOUR SuiteCRM server that you configured
- The Extension acts only as a transport mechanism between your browser and your server
- No files, emails, or content pass through AppyDays infrastructure
- All file processing, email parsing, and data storage occur on YOUR SuiteCRM installation
- Email content, attachments, sender/recipient information remain on your server
Third-Party Access
This Extension does not share any data with third parties.
The Extension communicates exclusively with:
- Your configured SuiteCRM server (the domain YOU specify)
- Chrome/Edge browser storage APIs (local to your device)
No analytics, tracking, or telemetry is collected by this Extension.
Backend Module
This browser extension requires a companion backend module installed on your SuiteCRM server. The backend module:
- Processes uploaded files and emails
- Parses Outlook .msg files using the MAPI library
- Creates SuiteCRM records (Documents, Emails, Notes)
- Links data to Contacts, Accounts, and other modules
All processing occurs on YOUR SuiteCRM server. Data handling, retention, and security are governed by YOUR SuiteCRM installation's policies and infrastructure.
Permissions Explained
The Extension requests the following browser permissions:
- storage: To save your SuiteCRM domain and settings locally
- activeTab: To detect which SuiteCRM record you're viewing
- tabs: To detect URL changes for enabling/disabling the extension icon
- scripting: To inject the drag-and-drop interface on SuiteCRM pages
- host_permissions (all_urls): Required because SuiteCRM can be self-hosted on any domain or IP address. The Extension only activates on the domain YOU configure in settings.
These permissions are used exclusively for the Extension's functionality. No data is collected or transmitted using these permissions.
Data Deletion
You can delete all Extension data at any time by:
- Uninstalling the Extension from Chrome/Edge, OR
- Clearing your browser's extension data, OR
- Resetting the Extension's settings through the popup interface
Once uninstalled, all locally stored settings are permanently removed.
Data Security
The Extension uses secure communication practices:
- Supports HTTPS connections to your SuiteCRM server
- Uses Chrome's secure storage APIs for local settings
- Does not transmit credentials or authentication tokens
- Relies on your existing SuiteCRM session authentication
The security of your uploaded data depends on YOUR SuiteCRM server's security configuration.
Children's Privacy
This Extension is intended for business/professional use and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Updates will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

The Extension's source code is available for review. You can inspect exactly how the Extension handles data by examining the code.
